- We are in favour of modernising our licensing system and removing archaic laws. However, reform of licensing is also an opportunity to look at how to run the hospitality industry to best protect workers and customers. We believe that removal of “the surrender principle” should be accompanied with a social clause that mandates employers to pay a living wage, guarantee hours for staff and licensed premises should be required to sign up to Unite Hospitality's Get Me Home Safe charter
