- We support the introduction of a properly calculated living wage, as outlined by the Living Wage Foundation, but are open to working towards a higher minimum wage. The Green Party NI has always opposed cutting corporation tax. The UK rate is already set to rise to 25% next year, and we are open to the idea of it being raised further.
- I have not read the trade union bill. I would like to review in full and make amendments if required as I do not have confidence in PBP to properly deliver for the people. Zero hour contracts May suit some individuals. Minimum wages should be set by a cost of living calculation rather than pick a figure out of the air. This could mean higher wages and updating each year could be automatic rather than subject to debate. 4 day weeks could be encouraged if possible in workplaces but not everyone can or would want to adopt this
- Zero hour contracts, many i have had, many jobs too, Its all about labour costs, young kids on minimum wage could work more for a company my hour could be reduced due to my high wage therefore i lose out on money, a young inexperienced person will be used as cheap labour and company profit margins grow higher, I am not here for it and wont stand for zero hour contracts
