- We support the introduction of a properly calculated living wage, as outlined by the Living Wage Foundation, but are open to working towards a higher minimum wage. The Green Party NI has always opposed cutting corporation tax. The UK rate is already set to rise to 25% next year, and we are open to the idea of it being raised further.
- There should be an immediate increase in tax for corporations and the wealthy elite and this money should be used to fund public services such as the NHS, public transport and measures needed to respond to the climate crisis. While the wealth that exists in society continues to be controlled by a tiny minority, profit maximisation will continue to be placed above our lives, mental and physical health and above the planet. That is why we also stand for an end to the profit system. The Socialist Party favours the nationalisation of major corporations and key sectors of the economy under democratic workers' control.
